Texas Halloween Party Takes Horrific Turn As Man In Santa Suit Opens Fire
A Texas costume party took a horrific turn this past weekend as a man dressed in a Santa Clause costume opened fire at his Austin home, killing one person and injuring three others, according to Austin police.
According to Austin Police Lt. Jason Staniszewski, 32-year-old Randall Gaston Jones became “highly intoxicated” and was asked to leave by his roommates. The 32-year-old decided to bring back a handgun and started shooting people at the party.
One man at the party, 38-year-old Michael McCloskey tried to stop the shooter but was shot several times. McCloskey was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police also said that two women were also taken for treatment with non-life- threatening injuries. Another victim also had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The shooter turned himself in afterward. When police arrived at the scene they found the gun on top of the neighbor’s welcome mat and Jones was waiting outside to be taken into custody.
Jones was booked into Travis County jail and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to online records. A murder charge is pending, Staniszewski said.
