President Obama Reflects On Trump’s Foreign Policy: Here’s What He Thinks
In past interviews, Donald Trump has stated a number of questionable remarks about his foreign policy, including that he wouldn’t necessarily “assist the US’ NATO allies.” Trump also said that he “doesn’t trust U.S. intelligence,” and that he “knows more than the generals.”
President Obama responded to the Republican presidential candidate’s assertions arguing that “the businessman/reality TV star isn’t ready to take over the White House.”
“For Mr. Trump to go out and say that America might not stand by its solemn commitment to protect those same allies who stood with us after 9/11 when we were attacked I think is an indication of the lack of preparedness that he has been displaying when it comes to foreign policy,” Obama said.
“And this notion that he knows more than the generals. You know… I strongly disagree,” the president added.
“I think the kinds of rhetoric that we’ve heard too often, from Mr. Trump and others… it’s not helping.”
