Kentucky GOP Candidate Posts Pictures Of Obamas As Chimpanzees, Says He’s Not Racist
Just when you thought that the right-wing hatred of Obama couldn’t get any more deplorable, a pastor and state house candidate in Kentucky revealed just how nasty the hate still is.
Republican nominee for the state’s House of Representatives Bishop Dan Johnson, who is a Donald Trump supporter, as caught posting blatantly racist images of the Obamas on his Facebook page — and his defense was that “it’s entertaining.”
One of the photos is of a baby chimpanzee with the following text: “Obama’s baby picture.” A second image is photoshopped with ape snouts over Barack and Michelle Obama’s faces. The posts were discovered by local reporters.
When confronted about the heinous posts, Johnson said: “It wasn’t meant to be racist, I can tell you that… but, I think Facebook’s entertaining.”
Jonson is running as a Republican in the 49th state house district, anchored in Bullitt County south of Louisville, against Democratic incumbent Linda Belcher. His church’s sign declares, “Jesus and this church are not politically correct.”
Republicans in Kentucky are unhappy at how obviously racist this is. They wrote a letter.
The letter, which was signed by Republican Party of Kentucky Chairman Mac Brown and House Minority Leader Jeff Hoover, calls for Johnson to step aside, saying that the candidate’s social media posts “lacked judgment.”
