White House Aides Call Ivanka Trump ‘Princess Royal’: Report
White House aides have reportedly given President Trump’s daughter a new nickname: “Princess Royal,” Vanity Fair. reports.
According to the magazine, the staff at the White House have started calling Ivanka Trump the nickname behind her back in a jab at her prominence in her father’s White House,
The nickname began following the backlash to Ivanka Trump sitting in for her father during the G20 Summit, when critics were quick to point out their beliefs that being the president’s daughter does not qualify her to act as a head of state.
“Excuse me, this is not a royal family, and she’s not the princess royal,” a former adviser to President Trump reportedly said at the time.
Following the public outrage, the White House defended President Trump for allowing his daughter to take his place.
“Ivanka was sitting in the back and then briefly joined the main table when the president had to step out,” the White House said in a statement.
