Patton Oswalt Reveals Deceased Wife’s Note About Donald Trump
On Saturday, Comedian Patton Oswalt revealed a newly-discovered note from his wife referencing President Trump, Michelle McNamara, who died in April 2016.
The note, which is styled like a poem, is titled “Lies the movies told me.”
“Rich tycoons are Bullshit,” McNamara wrote. “Even after spending an afternoon with Robin Williams, Donald Trump is still and will always be an asshole.”
“People who talk to themselves in voiceover are deeper and more sensitive,” she added.
Mcnamara was a vocal opponent of Trump as well. Her Twitter account, which has remained inactive in her memory, is full of retweeted messages rebuking Trump.
Last year, Oswalt ridiculed the then-GOP nominee for claiming he was the victim of political correctness.
“He is an ignorant, vengeful, racist asshole who is going, ‘Oh yeah, me too,’ ” Oswalt said at the time. “No, your shit should get criticized, because there’s no satire to it, and there’s no thought to it.”
“He’s jumping on something retroactively and going, ‘Oh yeah, me too, I’m also a First Amendment victim,’ ” he added.
The crime writer and her husband publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton for president before her death last year. Oswalt and McNamara married in 2005, and the comedian vowed to publish his wife’s last work in February 2018.
The upcoming book, “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer,” details McNamara’s search for the serial killer active in California in the 1970s and ’80s.
