REPORT: Trump 2020 Campaign Paid Trump Jr Lawyers $50,000 Two Weeks Before Emails Came Out
The Daily Beast reported on Saturday that just two weeks prior to the release of Donald Trump Jr.’s emails that revealed the reasoning for his meeting with Kremlin-linked attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, Trump’s reelection campaign paid $50,000 to the law offices of Alan Futerfas.
“Trump Jr. does not yet face any official allegations of legal wrongdoing, but he and the White House have scrambled to contain the political fallout from the controversy,” The Beast explained. “It was not immediately clear whether the campaign expenditure was renumeration for Futerfas’s representation of Trump’s son, on Russia-related or other matters. But the payment sticks out on a presidential campaign’s expenditure list: Futerfas’s expertise is in white collar criminal defense, not political and election law.”
But that wasn’t the only bombshell report that was released Saturday. According to the Federal Election Commission reports released Saturday, the Trump re-election campaign also payed $89,561 to the Trump Corporation for legal services, just three days after the payment to Futerfas.
