Report: Trump Used Comey Meeting To Ask Him To End Flynn Investigation
Donald Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey to put an end to the federal investigation into Michael Flynn, according to a New York Times article published on Tuesday.
The report said that Comey wrote in a memo following the meeting that Trump told him “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go.”
The meeting came a day after Flynns resignation. The memo is part of an effort to document Trump’s influence on the investigation.
According to the memo, Comey did not respond to Trump’s request, but he did agree that Flynn is “a good guy.”
The White House told the Times that the memo was incorrect.
“This is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and Mr. Comey,” the White House said in a statement.
