Shepard Smith Just Shot Down Trump’s Wiretapping Claims
Things are going so bad for Donald Trump that even Fox News is distancing itself from him.
Trump, who is known for citing fake news reports to justify his lies, recently accused former President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign. Though he didn’t provide any evidence to back his unverified claim, Trump called for an investigation into the matter.
During a “FOX & Friends” segment, conservative commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano suggested that the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), the British intelligence agency, would have played a part in helping Obama gather the content of Trump’s conversations.
By Friday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer apologized to GCHQ after Trump repeated Napolitano’s claim.
Later, at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, diverted to Fox News when asked about his ‘surveillance’ claim.
Then Fox News anchor Shepard Smith decided to set the record straight.
After a short criticism from Shepard regarding Trump’s currently unverified claim, he focused his attention on Napolitano’s statement:
“Fox News knows of no evidence of any kind that the now president of the United States was surveilled at any time in any way,” Smith said.
