The WH Going Crazy After Trump Jr Emails, Listen To The Latest Bizarre Press Briefing
White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was questioned about Donald Trump Jr.’s emails that revealed he knowingly met with a Russian lawyer whom he was told was working on behalf of the Russian government to help her father’s presidential campaign.
Sanders did not acknowledge the questions, but instead read out Donald Trump’s statement about his son. “My son is a high quality person and I applaud his transparency.”
Other than that answer, Sanders had little to say about the new found controversy.
For the vast majority of questions related to Trump Jr., Sanders referred reporters to Trump Jr.’s personal attorney.
“I will refer everything on this matter to Donald Trump Jr.’s outside counsel,” Sanders said shortly after reading the president’s statement about his son.
Sanders was later asked the same question and gave the exact same answer.
“I don’t want to sound like a broken record,” Sanders said, “but on all questions related to this matter I would refer you to Don Jr.’s counsel.”
But the press kept pushing Sanders and she kept refusing to answer the question.
She was later asked if Trump was being honest when he insisted repeatedly that no one in his campaign had contact with Russian government officials.
Sanders said in response, “To repeat myself, I will refer you to the outside counsel, and I do not have anything else to add.”
When asked to define what would constitute collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, Sanders said, “I said all we are going to say on that, anything else, you have to reach out to outside counsel.”
