Trump Walked Out Of Interview With Fox Host Because She Asked About The Russia Probe: Report
President Trump walked out of an interview with Fox News host Jeanine Pirro after she started asking about the ongoing probe into the Russia election interference, the New York Times reports.
According to the Times, Trump agreed to the interview on the condition that they only talk about a deal approved during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of State that gave Russia control over part of the United States’s uranium production capacity.
But during that meeting, Pirro, who hosts Fox News’s “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” went on to rile the president up over special counsel Robert Mueller and former FBI Director James Comey, the Times reported.
At that point, according to the Times, White House chief of staff John Kelly interrupted, saying that Pirro was not “helping things” by riling up the president, and Trump walked out.
Mueller is conducting the criminal investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow. Trump has called the probe a “witch hunt.”
Comey, who was abruptly fired by Trump in May, has also been the target of Trump’s ire at times. Comey claimed earlier this year that Trump once asked him for a loyalty pledge and later pressed him to end the FBI’s investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
