WATCH: Fox News Host Says Church Is The ‘Best Place To Get Shot’ Because You’re Close To God When You Die
While discussing the horrific Texas shooting with the state’s Governor Greg Abbott Monday, Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt said on Monday that the victims of the massacre at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs were in the best possible place to be shot because were “close to Christ” when they died.
Gunman Devin Kelley, 26, opened fire on the small congregation, killing at least 26 people and injuring many more. Most of the victims, including children, were inside the house of worship when they were shot.
During an interview with Texas Governor Greg Abbott Monday, But instead of talking about how to prevent these tragedies or pushing Governor Abbott on whether he will pursue gun law reforms to make it harder for such crimes to be committed, Fox took the “thoughts and prayers” narrative to a whole new level — at least they died in church.
Being shot and killed in a church, she said, meant they were “close to Christ” when they died.
“We’ve been reporting this shouldn’t happen in a church, but I was downstairs talking with some people that work here that we all talk about our faith and we share the same beliefs,” Earhardt said. “We were saying there’s no other place we would want to go other than church,” she insisted.
“Because I’m there asking for forgiveness, I feel very close to Christ when I’m there,” she opined. “So, I’m trying to look at some positives here and know that those people are with the Lord now and experiencing eternity and no more suffering, no more sadness anymore.”
