Trump Just Got Slapped With Major Lawsuit For Violating Constitutional Oath

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for Donald Trump, they did. According to a Washington Post report published Sunday night, Attorneys General for the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland announced a major lawsuit against President Trump.

The suit, scheduled to be announced at noon on Monday, alleges that Trump has violated anticorruption clauses in the Constitution by accepting millions in payments and benefits from foreign governments since moving into the White House.

Trump said in January that he was shifting his business assets into a trust managed by his sons to eliminate potential conflicts of interests. But he continues to be involved in his business, even organizing events at his golf clubs from the Oval Office.

D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine (D) and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh (D) say Trump has broken many promises to keep separate his public duties and private business interests, including receiving regular updates about his company’s financial health.

Earlier this year, Political Dig reported that Trump reserves large blocks of hours of “private time” on his Oval Office schedule for secret meetings and phone chats with business associates.

It would be the first suit if its kind brought by a government entity, the Post reports.
