Mike Huckabee Just Sent An Unbelievably Ignorant Tweet. Joy Reid Set Him Straight
In a single tweet, former Gov. Mike Huckabee revealed how ignorant he is about what the attorney general actually does. Huckabee defended Jeff Sessions’ refusal to answer questions under oath on Tuesday with wholly inaccurate information.
As Sessions repeatedly refused on Tuesday to answer senators’ questions regarding conversations he had with President Donald Trump, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee showed a woeful misunderstanding of the duties of the Justice Department.
“Dems act like they never heard of atty/client privilege; AG is top atty in Exec branch; serves @POTUS and not stooge of Congress,” he wrote on Twitter.

Facing questions from Democratic members of the Senate Intelligence Committee concerning Russia‘s attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and his conversations with Trump, Sessions on Tuesday refused to answer on the grounds that it would violate the president’s constitutional right to invoke executive privilege at some later date.
Defending Sessions, Huckabee claimed that Sessions was invoking attorney-client privilege to avoid revealing their discussions.
But Sessions is not Trump’s attorney, as Huckabee implies. Instead, Sessions is the top public attorney in the United States, serving the people, not the White House. And the internet was quick to set him straight.
Here’s MSNBC’s Joy Reid’s brilliant response:
The attorney general is not the president's lawyer. The White House counsel is who represents the White House. Buy a civics book. https://t.co/KHRjhQhPtF

The Attorney General serves the people of the United States of America.
Congress represents them. https://t.co/afHC7cRhVd

It's weird: You were a governor of a state and a candidate for president and you don't know how our government functions

Huckabee had a typical Republican mentality blame everything on someone else in this case the Democrats. He is as stupid as the rest of them

Someone doesn't understand the difference between an Attorney General and a General Counsel. https://t.co/RYvflOi2uh

Dude. The AG is not the White House Counsel. The AG is our highest public attorney. https://t.co/UcOQuYjq1v

As the rest of Trump supporters, Mike Huckabee seems to lack a basic understanding of the US Constitution.
