Mueller Now Focusing On Trump’s Role In Crafting Don Jr’s Misleading Russia Meeting Statement: Report
A new report claims that special counsel Robert Mueller is no switching focus on a meeting that took place last July aboard Air Force One that lead to Donald Trump Jr. giving a misleading statement meeting between top Donald Trump campaign officials and Russian nationals with ties to the Kremlin.
According to The New York Times, that July meeting “has become a focus” in Mueller’s ongoing investigation. The report states that he’s specifically focusing on Trump’s role in crafting the misleading statement.
The Times also reported that Mueller is looking into current White House Communications Director Hope Hicks’ role in the meeting as well.
The former spokesman for Trump’s legal team, Mark Corallo, is reportedly planning to tell Mueller’s team that Hicks once promised to hide emails from Donald Trump Jr. in which he claimed to have “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.
Hicks lawyer has denied that she made such remarks.
“As most reporters know, it’s not my practice to comment in response to questions from the media. But this warrants a response,” Hicks’ lawyer, Robert Trout, said. “She never said that. And the idea that Hope Hicks ever suggested that emails or other documents would be concealed or destroyed is completely false.”
