A new Rasmussen poll shows Democrat Andrew Gillum leading his Republican opponent, Ron DeSantis, by 6 points in Florida’s gubernatorial race.
According to the poll, Gillum leads DeSantis 48 percent to 42 percent among likely voters.
Out of the people who claimed that they will certainly vote, 49 percent of them said the will vote for Gillum, while 44 percent chose the Republican candidate.
DeSantis faced backlash after making controversial comments about Gillum calling him a “monkey.”
Gillum won an upset victory over a more centrist Democrat, former Rep. Gwen Graham (Fla.), in a primary last month.
The Rasmussen poll was conducted among 800 likely Florida voters between Sept. 10-11 and has a margin of error +/- 3.5 percentage points.
