Republicans tapped Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), one of President Donald Trump’s most stalwart supporters, to temporarily take a spot on the Intelligence Committee so he can sabotage the impeachment hearings, but his performance, so far, has been a complete disaster.
Jordan’s very first statement in the impeachment hearings was to lie that Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) knows who the whistleblower is. He got brutally called out in response.
“You are the only member who knows [who the whistleblower,” Jordan told Schiff, who quickly shut him down.
“As the gentleman knows, that’s a false statement. I do not know the identity of the whistleblower,” Shiff said, rendering Jordan silent.
Watch the exchange below.
Jordan: Of the 435 members of Congress, you are the only member who knows [who the whistleblower is].
Schiff: First, as the gentleman knows, that's a false statement: I do not know the identity of the whistleblower.pic.twitter.com/v4b9g5Dexy
