Donald Trump’s decision to slap China with tariffs is a bad idea. Many of his supporters, including farmers, are begging him not go through with it because they will be losing money. Trump claims that the trade war will benefit America, but he has exempted his daughter’s clothing line from it.
ThinkProgress pointed out a piece in the Washington Post that reported that Trump will exempt all clothing manufacturing companies from the tariffs, this includes Ivanka’s clothing brand.
Ivanka is profiting from her father. While she works at the White House for free, she still makes $1.5 million from the Trump Organization, and her brand also makes about $1.5 million annually.
Since her father started his campaign, Ivanka’s clothing line has struggled. But now, since Trump decided to exempt her from the tariffs, Ivanka will start profiting more from her clothing company.
This has raised concerns and many ethics experts have complained that she isn’t fully divested from the business while working at the White House.
