Former House Representative Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) stated on Monday that Trump should “absolutely” release his tax returns.
Walsh, a Trump supporter, believes that the president has nothing to hide and should release his tax returns.
“I’m a Trump supporter, [but] he should release his taxes,” Walsh said Monday on MSNBC. “I do think this issue will come back and bite him in the butt.”
Walsh also stated the reality of Democrats taking over in 2018.
“If Donald Trump and the Republicans continue to push this narrative that this protest movement on the left isn’t real, it’s going to overtake them,” he said. “They’re going to lose next year.”
On Saturday thousands of people protested nationwide demanding Trump to release his taxes.
Trump reacted to the Tax March on Twitter, saying “the election is over” and wondering on who “paid for” the events across the country.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer stated on Monday that Trump’s 1016 tax returns will not be released either.
“We are under the same audit that existed, so nothing has changed,” he said during his daily press briefing.
“The president is under audit, it’s a routine one, it continues, and I think the American public knows very clearly where [Trump] stands,” Spicer added. “This is something he made very clear during the election cycle.”
