Barack Obama’s Moving Tribute To John McCain Ends With a Slap In The Face To Trump
On Saturday, America was reminded of what the word ‘presidential’ used to mean watching former President Barack Obama pay tribute to late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).
Obama, who bested McCain in the 2008 presidential election, honored his formal rival and America during the Saturday services at the National Cathedral.
The packed church laughed heartily and fought back tears as the former president spoke about McCain.
The former president ended his eulogy with a brilliant and scorching swipe at Donald Trump.
“Our politics, public life, public discourse can seem small and mean and petty. Trafficking in insult and phony controversies,” Obama observed. “It’s the politics that pretends to be brave and tough but in fact is born of fear. John called on us to be bigger than that.”
