Beto O’Rourke To Appear At CNN Town Hall On His Own After Ted Cruz Chickens Out

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) decided to decline an invitation by CNN to participate in a town hall with his Democratic opponent, Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).

According to reports, CNN invited the two candidates to an Oct. 18 town hall event at the McAllen Performing Arts Center moderated by Dana Bash.

According to CNN, Cruz had initially accepted the invitation but after O’Rourke’s campaign got a boost with a viral TV ad by film director Richard Linklater for the Fire Ted Cruz PAC, the Republican senator decided to decline the invitation.

CNN will also host debates between Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Republican Gov. Rick Scott in Florida’s Senate race, and between Andrew Gillum and Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in Florida’s gubernatorial race.
