In the video below, Vice President Joe Biden delivered a powerful and incredibly moving speech, tearing into Republican nominee Donald Trump over his callous comments made earlier today that implied that veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder were somehow “not strong enough to handle combat.”
Overwhelmed with fury at the notion that the draft-dodging Donald Trump would have the nerve to insult our veterans so crudely, Biden lost his cool as he addressed a crowd in Florida.
“Where in the hell is he from? No no no no. This is deadly earnest” Biden said becoming visibly emotional, yelling into the mic as he told the story of his late son Beau’s tour in Iraq before sharing heart-wrenching anecdote of a young army captain who risked his life to pull an injured comrade from a burning Humvee after they’d been hit with an improvised explosive device.
Biden said: “When I went to pin it on him in front of the entire brigade he stood and looked at me and said, ‘Sir I don’t want the medal. I don’t want the medal.’ You know why? He said he died. ‘He died Mr. Vice President. I don’t want the medal. How many nights does that kid go to sleep seeing that image in his head, dealing with it?” roared Biden.
“What are the chances Trump honors commitment to those who are wounded? It’s not just that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t want to find out.”
The Vice President’s anger is understandable. Republican nominee Donald Trump has insulted our veterans on more than one occasion while pretending to stand up for them; it’s far too obvious at this point they are nothing but a cheap political prop to be used and tossed aside like an ex-wife or a charitable cause when they no longer interest him.
