The Biggest Enemy Of The Republican Party Is Not The Democrats
Republicans love to boast about their “Christian” values and often criticize Democrats as “godless liberals.” It’s ironic because the biggest enemy of the Republican party is not Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama. It’s Jesus Christ himself.
Jesus said, “heal the sick, feed the hungry, care for the weakest among us, and always pray in private.”
Republican politicians have run their campaign to appeal to “Evangelicals,” but they don’t represent Christianity or what Jesus stood for while on Earth. If we look at the Bible, we see that Jesus could be identified as a Liberal, not a Republican. I know… you may find this outlandish, but if we look at scripture and apply it to greed, taxes, social programs, immigration, etc. my statement won’t seem outlandish at all.
Let’s break this down and exposed the Republican party as the true enemy of Jesus Christ once and for all.
Greed and Taxes:
The Republican party is led by a group of rich men who just passed legislation that cuts funding for programs designed to help the poor in order to give a huge tax break to the wealthy. Jesus condemned the rich for not paying taxes. Jesus also condemned the greedy and the rich in the temple. The following scriptures support how much Jesus condemned the way the rich were using their money:
Luke 12:15 —”Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Matthew 19:23 — “Truly, I say unto you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 6:24 — “You cannot serve both God and Money.”
Republicans think social programs like welfare, social security, and Medicare or Medicaid are for the poor people who are too lazy to work. Republicans say that the government should not have to pay for the unemployed, but Jesus said to help the needy, welcome them into your home, so how can the Republicans claim to be the Christian party, when Jesus was poor while on Earth and welcomed the poor in his arms.
Luke 14:13-14 — “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
Justice and Injustice
Our criminal justice system is broken, focusing far too much on criminalization and incarceration and far too little on rehabilitation. And Republicans have been the ones to change our justice system for the worse. Jesus knew what true justice was. He dealt with the injustice firsthand when he was wrongly prosecuted for a crime he did not commit, so Jesus is fighting along with us when it comes to justice. It is even written in the Bible about what true justice was.
Jeremiah 22:3-5 — “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.”
Ecclesiastes 5:8 — “If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.”
Leviticus 19:15 — “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.”
Immigrants and Refugees
Embolden by his Republican allies in Congress, President Donald Trump is refusing to accept Syrian refugees and has launched a mass deportation campaign against Mexican immigrants, many of which have not committed a crime. But Jesus welcomed refugees and immigrants. In fact, he commanded his people to accept them because they were once immigrants themselves and they may need a place of refuge in the future. Therefore, the Republican rhetoric of deporting and rejecting immigrants and refugees is not Christian. In fact, it is just the opposite.
Leviticus 19:33-34, 24:22 — “When the alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
Numbers 9:14, 35 — “You shall have one statute, both for the sojourner and for the native. The Lord instructs Moses to give cities of refuge to the Levites so that when the Israelites must flee into Canaan they may have cities of refuge given to them.”
Deuteronomy 1:16 — “Give the members of your community a fair hearing, and judge rightly between one person and another, whether citizen or resident alien.”
Deuteronomy 24:14 — “You shall not withhold the wages of poor and needy laborers, whether other Israelites or aliens who reside in your land”
The appeal that the Republicans have used for decades to gain the vote of Christians has worked, but it has only worked well for those who don’t know the Word of God.
Eighty percent of white evangelical voters voted for Donald Trump in the November election.
For many of these self-described “value voters,” Trump was a walking contradiction of nearly everything they claim to believe in — a vulgar, thrice-married real estate tycoon whose brand is built on money, women, and debauchery.
Still, they voted for him. The question is why?
I think some of them did just sell out for power. There’s no question. When a few of them were asked recently, “Why would you support Trump so full-throatedly?” they basically said, “Because we know we have access with this president we’ve never had before in our lifetimes.” It was transactional in that sense.
But God condemns those who misuse his word for their own gain.
2 Corinthians 11:14 —“And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
Matthew 7:15 — “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.”
Romans 16:18 — “Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By their smooth talk and glowing words, they deceive innocent people.”
These scriptures describe the Republicans who misuse the Bible for their own interests perfectly.
