President-elect Donald Trump has had the highest number of lawsuits than any other incoming president. According to USA Today, Trump still has 75 of his 4,000 lawsuits pending.
Trump transition team spokeswoman Hope Hicks told CNN that the President-elect just completed a deposition Thursday over his legal battle against chef José Andrés.
“Mr. Trump is not just any apex deponent; he is the President-elect … It is not an overstatement that he is extremely busy handling matters of very significant public importance,” said Trump’s attorneys, arguing that Trump didn’t have the time to answer too many questions.
Trump had sued Andrés for violating his contract. Chef Andrés was to open his restaurant in Trump’s new luxury hotel in Washington, but cancelled the plans after Trump insulted and made false remarks about Mexican immigrants during his campaign to presidency.
Although Trump’s attorneys tried to limit the investigation, DC Superior Court Judge Jennifer A. Di Toro ruled in December that it would be prejudicial to the defense team’s right to prepare the case for trial if Trump’s examination was limited.
According to sources Trump has been in New York all day. Any further information about the deposition has not yet been clarified.
