The Russia controversy has made headlines all throughout last year and up until now. The most recent being the House GOP’s memo that undermined the FBI’s investigation into Russia and the Trump campaign. Now, a new report revealed that former Trump campaign aide Carter Page, who is at the heart of the recently released memo, was caught bragging about his ties within the Russian government in a 2013 letter.
Time reported on Saturday that Page told an academic press contact that he was an “informal adviser” to the Kremlin.
“Over the past half year, I have had the privilege to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin in preparation for their Presidency of the G-20 Summit next month, where energy issues will be a prominent point on the agenda,” he wrote in the letter, dated August 25, 2013.
The GOP’s memo claimed that Page was unconstitutionally surveilled by the Justice Department and FBI. But this letter obtained by Time proves otherwise.
Many Democrats and Intel officials have criticized them memo for undermining the FBI.
