Chicago Bar Joins In Resisting Trump, Bans All MAGA Hats
A Chicago bar announced on Monday that no one with a “Make America Great Again” hat will be allowed to enter the premises.
Replay Lincoln Park said in a Facebook post that its bar is looking to “maintain a classy environment,” thus banning all MAGA hats.
“After much consternation and consideration and to maintain a ‘classy environment’, Replay Lincoln Park has implemented a new and strictly enforced dress code,” the bar posted on Facebook.
“No face tattoos, no specific hats, please see below,” the post continued. “Let’s keep it classy Chicago. Sincerely, management.”
The bar’s owner, Mark Kwiatkowski, spoke with NBC 5 Chicago and admitted to writing the Facebook post himself.
“I was just frustrated and I just kind of wanted to make somewhat of a statement,” Kwiatkowski said. “I felt like we did have an opportunity to say something that might draw some attention to this ugliness.”
He told the news station that since his post, the policy has not yet been enforced.
“I think what we would do is kindly ask them to remove [the hat] but we would let them in certainly and maybe have an opportunity to discuss all of this and see their opinions,” Kwiatkowski said of the policy.
