Christmas Parade Gone Wrong: Confederate Float Interrupts Parade To Offer Kids Free Bullets
A Christmas parade in the Ozark Mountain community of Springdale, Arkansas didn’t go as planned when one of the floats decided to feature two men dressed as Confederate soldiers while flying the Confederate flag around and offering kids free bullets.
According to the Kansas City Star, one of the men had a rifle with him. When he was asked by children at the parade to hand them candy, the man responded by saying, “I got bullets. Want bullets?”
“Why do you have a rifle with a bayonet on it?” asks someone in the crowd.
“I’m looking for Yankees!” the man answers.
One man spoke with the Democrat-Gazette about the parade and claimed that the Confederate float should not have been there.
“It was supposed to be a Christmas parade,” the man said. “Everything that goes along with Christmas was supposed to be celebrated. It was completely the wrong place and the wrong time to celebrate your ‘heritage.’”
