The CIA Has Had Enough. Chief Torches Donald Trump In The Best Way Possible
Donald Trump has made delegitimizing the work of U.S. intelligence agencies a repeated attack point since being elected, particularly in reference to allegations of Russian interference in the November 8 election. Well, John Brennan, the outgoing director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has had enough.
Last week, Trump tweeted: “Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to “leak” into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?”
During an interview with The Wall Street Journal Monday, Brennan tore into President-elect Trump for suggesting the CIA leaked of the now infamous “Golden Showers” dossier that claims Trump engaged in compromising activity in Russia.
The outgoing intelligence chief told the Journal that Trump’s allegations of dishonesty and lack of integrity on the part of U.S. intelligence personnel “crossed the line,” calling his attacks on intelligence officers and comparisons to Hitler’s regime “repugnant.”
“Tell the families of those 117 CIA officers who are forever memorialized on our wall of honor that their loved ones who gave their lives were akin to Nazis. Tell the CIA officers who are serving in harm’s way right now and their families who are worried about them that they are akin to Nazi Germany. I found that to be very repugnant, and I will forever stand up for the integrity and patriotism of my officers who have done much over the years to sacrifice for their fellow citizens.”
Take that, Trump!
