California State lawmakers on Tuesday approved legislation naming a major freeway after President Barack Obama and Conservatives are losing their mind over the decision.
The measure names part of State Route 134 in Los Angeles County after the 44th president, and Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to sign it into law, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The decision to honor Obama is in recognition of “two decades of dedicated public service to the citizens of the United States and the state of California” the resolution says.
“I am so proud to have authored this proposal to forever appreciate and commemorate President Obama’s tremendous legacy, statesmanship and direct connection to Southern California,” said state Sen. Anthony Portantino, D-La Cañada Flintridge, who introduced the resolution to name the freeway.
The portion of the 134 (Ventura Freeway) being newly named runs through Los Angeles County between State Route 2 near Glendale and Interstate 210 in Pasadena. Obama used the route to commute to class as a student at Occidental College in 1981.
“His story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others,” the resolution says of Obama.
In the near future, Californians will be able to travel on the President Barack H. Obama Highway.

Obama’s part of the freeway runs between State Route 2 in Glendale and Pasadena, the same route Obama took as a student of Occidental College in 1981.
But while most Californians are thrilled to award this part of the freeway to Obama, many Conservatives are furious and have taken to Twitter to rant about it.
Here are some of their insane comments:
if some people are destroying confederate monuments, then why is CA naming a freeway after obama, the worst POTUS ever and ISIS co-founder?

The People's Republic of California strikes again. It's naming a section of an L.A. freeway in "honor" of Obama. PATHETIC! What's next?
