Last week a video broke out of a Utah police officer arresting a nurse for refusing to provide a blood sample of an unconscious patient.
Now, the FBI has opened an investigation into Salt Lake City Police Detective Jeff Payne.
The investigation will examine whether Payne violated any federal laws when he arrested nurse Alex Wubbels at the University of Utah Hospital, according to Reuters.
Since the video broke out the hospital has banned law enforcement from contacting their nursing staff. Payne was also fired from his post as a part-time paramedic.
An FBI spokesperson told Reuters that the bureau had begun a review of the incident. The Salt Lake City Police Department had already opened its own internal investigation.
