Donald Trump’s presidency has not been so smooth and as a result Republicans are taking a hard hit in popularity.
According to a Quinnipiac Poll released on Wednesday, Democrats hold a 16-point lead over Republicans in a generic House ballot.
The poll found that 54% of survey takers would much rather see Democrats take control of the House compared to the 38% that would want to see Republicans keep control. The other 8% had no answer.
Most survey takers did said they didn’t like the work that was being done in Congress by either party.
71% said they disapprove of the job being done by Republicans in Congress compared to 58% that said they disapproved of the job being done by Democrats.
Come 2018, Democrats will need to flip 25 seats if they want to take control of the House.
The Quinnipiac survey was conducted from May 4 to 9, surveying 1,078 voters across the country. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
