According to a new announcement on Friday, the U.S. Department of Education has just withdrawn guidelines issued by the Obama administration on how colleges go about investigating sexual assault crimes.
The DOE, ran by Betsy DeVos, issued a statement on the new guidelines.
“This interim guidance will help schools as they work to combat sexual misconduct and will treat all students fairly,” Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said in a statement. “Schools must continue to confront these horrific crimes and behaviors head-on. There will be no more sweeping them under the rug. But the process also must be fair and impartial, giving everyone more confidence in its outcomes.”
This means sexual predators would be treated as the victim would be treated. This will not give everyone “more confidence,” the only ones getting more confidence are the sexual predators under these new guidelines.
