Dismayed Republican Voters Say They Are Now ‘Inclined’ To Vote For Democratic Candidate After Trump Rally In PA

Pennsylvania Republican voters told CNN that President Donald Trump’s weekend rally would actually make it more difficult for them to vote for the GOP candidate, and claimed they are now more inclined to back Democratic candidate Conor Lamb.

Trump over the weekend held a raucous campaign rally in Western Pennsylvania to bolster the campaign of Republican candidate Rick Saccone. Now, even some Republican voters in the district are wary of the president’s presence.

During a panel discussion on CNN on Monday, Pennsylvania Republican voter Carol Thomas, who says she is backing GOP candidate Rick Saccone in this Tuesday’s special congressional election, said that she believes the president’s weekend rally would actually make it more challenging for Republicans to hold the seat.

“If I were Saccone, I’d tell Trump to stay away because he puts his foot in his mouth,” she said.

Thomas also said that Trump’s presence in Western Pennsylvania over the weekend made her “much less inclined” to back Saccone.

Similarly, voter Michelle Grimpe tells CNN that she’s backing Saccone, but she says that she doesn’t “like necessary how the president presents himself” and she said that Trump’s attitude made her feel tempted to back Saccone’s rival, Democrat Conor Lamb.
