DOJ Plans To Lower Roger Stone’s Sentence After Trump Throws Twitter Tantrum: Report

Fox News reporter Jake Gibson reported on Tuesday that the Department of Justice will be looking to lower its sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone after Donald Trump lashed out on Twitter claiming that Stone’s sentence was “a horrible and very unfair situation.”

“The DOJ is changing its sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone, according to a Senior DOJ official,” Gibson reports. “‘The Department finds seven to nine years extreme, excessive and grossly disproportionate,’ the source said, adding the DOJ will clarify its position on sentencing later today.”

The DOJ had originally recommended a seven-to-nine year sentence. But shortly after it was announced, Trump took to Twitter to lash out at 2 a.m.

“This is a horrible and very unfair situation,” Trump wrote in the dead of night. “The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”
