While speaking to FEMA staff and members of his National Security Council at Camp David, President Donald Trump on Monday compared the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey to “water damage” at his real estate properties.
As reported by The New York Times, Trump’s remarks came as the National Wheather Service declared the devastation as “the biggest flooding in Texas history.”
“As the extent of the projected devastation became apparent over the weekend during a meeting at Camp David, he shook his head in disbelief and compared the situation to problems he experienced when managing his family’s apartment buildings in New York,” the Times reported.
Trump told his staff: “Water damage is the worst”
“Tough, tough, tough,” he added.
As the President departed for Texas on Tuesday, some Twitter users wondered whether First Lady Melania Trump was prepared to visit a disaster zone.
