Trump Misspells His Defense Sec. Name In Frantic Tweet Rant About Disastrous Syria Decision
President Donald Trump on Sunday misspelled his Defense Secretary’s name in a frantic tweet about his controversial decision to withdraw US troops from northern Syria.
In his rambling tweet, Trump tried to quote Defense Secretary Mark Esper, but instead, he referred to him as “Mark Esperanto”.
“Mark Esperanto, Secretary of Defense, “The ceasefire is holding up very nicely. There are some minor skirmishes that have ended quickly,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “USA soldiers are not in combat or ceasefire zones. We have secured the Oil. Bringing soldiers home!” he added.
The president later deleted the original tweet and reposted it. This time he correctly spelled Mr. Esper’s name. It was too late, however, as people had already taken screenshots of the original tweet to saved it for eternity.
Trump’s tweet comes as he struggles with an impeachment inquiry and plummeting approval ratings.
