President Trump Personally Signed Off On False Claim That Jr.’s Meeting Was ‘About Adoption’

In another extraordinary revelation, The New York Times just reported that President Donald Trump personally signed off on a false statement released Sunday by Donald Trump Jr., which claims a meeting between the president’s eldest son and an emissary of the Russian government was about an “adoption program.”

But a series of emails in the days leading to the meeting prove that Trump Jr.—along with Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort—met with a Russian lawyer under the auspice of obtaining information that could prove damaging to then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The emails were posted via Twitter on Tuesday morning and contain explicit promises of support from “Russia and its government for Mr. Trump.”
