Elizabeth Warren Just Stomped Ben Carson With Question Concerning Trump’s Conflicts Of Interest

Trump’s Cabinet hearings have been taking place all week. Dr. Ben Carson, who has no government experience or expertise in housing and urban development policy, was questioned today to assure that he should be confirmed to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD).

With the increasing concern of Trump’s conflicts of interest, Sen. Elizabeth Warren asked Carson if the Trump family would benefit in anyway from taxpayer dollars.

Carson avoided the question several times, talking about his own intentions, not that of the President-elect’s.

“It will not be my intention to do anything to benefit any American particularly,” he said in response to pointed questioning from Sen. Warren. “It’s for all Americans, everything that we do.”

Warren responded, “I understand that. Do I take that to mean that you may manage programs that will significantly benefit the president-elect?“ referring to Donald Trump’s vast real estate holdings.

“You can take it to mean that I will manage things that will benefit the American people. That is going to be the goal,” Carson said.

“If there happens to be an extraordinarily good program that is working for millions of people and it turns out that someone that you’re targeting is going to gain $10 from it, am I going to say, ‘No, the rest of you Americans can’t have it’? I think logic and common sense will probably be the best way.”

Warren went on to say that “We do have a problem here… The problem is that you can’t assure us that HUD money, not of ten dollar varieties, but of multi-million dollar varieties will not end up in the President-elect’s pockets. And the reason you can’t assure us of that is because the President-elect is hiding his family’s business interests from you, from me, from the rest of America.”
