FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe Abruptly Resigns: Report
FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has abruptly resigned from the law enforcement agency, White House officials revealed to CNN Monday.
McCabe, who became Trump’s acting director of the FBI in May when Trump fired James Comey, told FBI staff that he is stepping down effective immediately, according to the news network.
He was eligible to retire in March, but decided to quit sooner, according to sources familiar with his resignation.
President Donald Trump had publicly criticized McCabe in recent months. He learned McCabe’s departure Monday morning, a White House official told CNN.
The President did not answer a reporter’s question at the White House about McCabe’s departure.
This is a developing story and it will be updated.
