Feinstein: Trump Jr. Will Have Public Hearing ‘Come Hell Or High Water’
During an interview with CNN on Monday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) — the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary committee — said she expects Donald Trump Jr. to take part in a public hearing in the near future.
Feinstein was asked if she thinks Trump Jr. will return to the Senate for a hearing regarding a meeting he took last year with a Russian lawyer.
“I do,” she said. “Come hell or high water.”
Earlier this month, Trump Jr. gave an interview to Senate Judiciary staff behind closed doors.
In a statement released following the meeting, he said he thinks the interview he gave “satisfied” investigator’s inquiry into the 2016 meeting he took with a Russia lawyer.
“I answered every question posed by the committee related to this topic as well as all of their questions on other topics, until both sides had exhausted their line of questioning,” he said before adding: “I trust this interview fully satisfied their inquiry.”
Well, he’s wrong. Several committee Democrats signaled following the meeting that they were not yet done with President Trump’s eldest son and want him back to the Senate for a public hearing.
