Saturday Night Live has been hitting Donald Trump and his team pretty hard since taking office. Trump made an appearance on the show back in 2015 and according to former cast member Taran Killam, he was a “moron” who “struggled” to read scripted jokes.
Killam spoke with Brooklyn magazine where he stated it that most of the “cast and writers were not excited to have [Trump] there.”
“I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides,” Killam says.
Killam was asked if Trump was “unpleasant” while on the show.
“He was… everything you see. What you see is what you get with him, really. I mean, there was no big reveal.”
He also went on to say how it was having Trump around during rehearsals.
He “struggled to read at the table read, which did not give many of us great confidence. Didn’t get the jokes, really. He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster.”
After his appearance on the show, Trump decided to start bashing SNL. Trump wrote in a tweet last December that the series was “totally biased,” “not funny,” and “unwatchable.”
