Four Trump Officials Just Lost Their Jobs For Failing To Pass Background Check: Report

This list of people leaving their posts at the White House continues to grow. On Tuesday, it was reported by The Washington Post that four employees of the Trump Administration’s Commerce Department lost their jobs for failing to pass background checks and obtain a permanent security clearance.

In a statement, the department said it is “prohibited by the Privacy Act from discussing personal information about employees. The standard background and hiring practices are followed by the Department and, whenever concerns are raised during that process, the Department acts immediately.”

Fred Volcansek, one of the employees fired on Tuesday told The Post that he did not get informed as to why he was being let go prior to his ouster.

“What’s interesting is that my investigation went on for 13 months,” he told the Post. “If they found something . . . why didn’t they bring it up before?”

According to The Post, the most common reason why these four employees were denied security clearance was for “withholding information from a government disclosure form, past criminal convictions, compromising contacts or being the subject of an investigation.”
