Fox News Guest Shuts Down Host For Praising Kanye While Attacking Black Athletes Who Speak Out Against Trump
During a Fox News panel discussion on Saturday, host Jesse Watters was shut down by one of his liberal guests who called him out for praising Kanye West for getting involved in politics while attacking black athletes for using their platform to speak out against the Trump administration.
Dr. Wendy Osefo, a Johns Hopkins political science professor, called out Watters and his conservative guest Rob Smith.
Smith opened with racially charged rhetoric, calling CNN anchor Don Lemon the “chief overseer on the Democratic plantation.”
Osefo noted that Kanye failed to talk about plenty of serious topics during his stay at the White House.
“But he did not, he used that time to basically be a minstrel show and pound on the table,” she said.
She went on to call out the GOP and Fox News for attacking athletes and performers who speak out against Trump.
“The GOP has to decide: When is it OK for black athletes and performers to either shut up and dribble or become the beacon of hope for your party, because you can’t have it both ways,” she said.
“I don’t remember all of this outcry when LeBron James called out the President Trump but then you guys said he should shut up and dribble,” Osefo added. “So, again, I ask you: Do you want black athletes and entertainers to shut up and dribble or do you want them to become your new mascot, like you’re doing for Kanye West? Because you cannot have it both ways, sir.”
Watters had no rebuttal and decided to cut Osefo off to go to commercials.
“We’ve gotta run, thank you both very much,” he said.
