As it appears that a government shutdown is inching closer, Donald Trump is blaming the Democrats for it. But the president’s favorite network, Fox News, is now calling him out for blaming Democrats for something he is completely responsible for.
“At the moment, looks like we are lurching toward a shutdown at midnight tonight,” said Fox News’ White House correspondent John Roberts.
“The president is kind of flipping a 180 here and trying to blame the Democrats for the shutdown, should that happen. The president tweeting out earlier today ‘the Democrats now own the shutdown,’ to which Chuck Schumer was only too happy to remind the president about what he has said in the past. Listen here.”
The network then replayed a video clip of Trump’s meeting with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schummer where the president said he was the one calling for the shutdown.
“I’m not going to blame you for it,” Roberts said, quoting Trump. “Except this morning, he is now blaming the Democrats for it.”
