Donald Trump is reportedly adding a new person to his legal team to battle special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
According to Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman, Trump is looking to add Fox News legal expert Victoria Toensing to his legal team. Toensing is wife to recently hired lawyer Joseph diGenova.
Sherman says that Trump’s move to hire both diGenova and Toensing is to go to war with Mueller’s investigation.
Both diGenova and Toensing have strong feelings against Mueller’s probe. Toensing has recommended hiring a new special counsel to investigate Mueller, while diGenova said Mueller’s investigation was based on a “deep state” plot “to illegally exonerate Hillary Clinton and… then frame Donald Trump with a falsely created crime.”
“Toensing is currently representing William Campbell, a former lobbyist and F.B.I. informant, who claimed in an interview with members of three congressional committees that Russia steered money to the Clinton Foundation to grease the so-called Uranium One deal,” Sherman said. “Appearing on Fox News, Toensing has called for a second special prosecutor to investigate Mueller, the logic being that he was FBI director at the time that the Uranium One acquisition was approved.”
