Trump’s Tweet Backfires: Americans Give Fox News The ‘Fake News’ Trophy In New Rasmussen Poll

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump fired off a tweet suggesting an “annual Fake News Award” for the worst coverage of his presidency but left Fox News out of the running. Well, the votes are in and the majority of Americans think Fox News deserves the first “Fake News Trophy.”

According to a new poll from the conservative-leaning Rasmussen, 40 percent of Americans think Fox News should get the Fake News Trophy.

The second place winner, according to the poll, was CNN, which received 25 percent support.

MSNBC followed CNN with 9 percent, and ABC, CBS and NCB each received less than 5 percent support for the Fake News Trophy.

The poll also finds that 65 percent of likely voters think fake news is a big problem.

The poll was conducted from Nov. 28-29 among 1,000 likely voters. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.

The poll comes after Trump earlier this week suggested that media should compete for a Fake News Trophy. But Trump said the competition shouldn’t include Fox, a network he is known to frequently watch.

“We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me),” Trump tweeted. “They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!”
