Free Press Is Dead: Latest Spicer Episode Proves Just Why

Donald Trump has been very expressive about which news outlets he likes and which ones he doesn’t. And it seems like Fox News is getting special privileges from the president.

On Friday, in an awkward moment, White House press secretary Sean Spicer abruptly asked that his daily on-camera press briefing be “off camera.”

Spicer got what he asked for. As you can see in the video below the camera is pointing to a giant container of cheese puffs as Spicer’s voice is heard in the background.

In announcing the decision, Spicer said, “I want to make sure that the president has an opportunity to [address the issue in] his words and his audio.”

“It’s off. Off. Everything is off,” he said.

But what stands out the most about this awkward press briefing is what happened just moments before.

Fox News received a red carpet interview with Spicer in which he discussed the Syria strike. He also recorded another interview with Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts.

But other media outlets didn’t get the same treatment. I wonder why that is?
