The New York Times broke a story on Wednesday that revealed that Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani took a secret trip to Madrid, Spain in the recent weeks to meet with a top aide of new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in order to obtain dirt on Trump’s Democratic opponents.
According to the Times, Giuliani was attempting to find out “whether there was anything improper about the overlap between former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s diplomatic efforts in Ukraine and his son’s role with a gas company there.”
Giuliani claims that he took these meetings in his capacity as a private citizen, and not on behalf of the Trump campaign.
But just like the Times reports, Giuliani conducts a lot of business around the world and presents himself as Trump’s attorney “to try to influence another country’s affairs to help his client politically.”
