Giuliani On Trump Felony: ‘Its Not a Crime Because Nobody Got Killed’
Last week, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the SDNY started rolling out Donald Trump’s crimes, one by one, in increasing order of severity. With every new crime, the American people are digesting the fact that Trump is a criminal, and before you know it, most people conclude that he has to go. But Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani lives by a completely different set of standards.
An in this regard, Giuliani just did Mueller a big favor.
The very worst thing Donald Trump and his team can do right now is to spin the current two felony counts against him as being a crime, but not that big of a crime. That only serves to establish that Trump is, in fact, a criminal, and sets the stage for Mueller to start escalating things. But Rudy went and said precisely what Mueller was hoping.
“Nobody got killed, nobody got robbed… This was not a big crime,” Giuliani told the Daily Beast when asked Michale Cohen’s revelation that Trump ordered him to commit a felony.
Yup. Rudy just unwittingly helped Mueller out by helping to lay the groundwork for it.
He seems to know it too, as he’s now claiming on Twitter that he never made the remark.
CORRECTION: I didn’t say payments were not a big crime. I have said consistently that the Daniels and McDougall payments are not crimes and tweeted a great article yesterday making that point . If it isn’t a witch-hunt why are they pursuing a non-crime.
