GOP Congressman Is Taking Action Against Trump If He Tries To End DACA

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) took to Twitter on Friday to announce that he will attempt to force a vote on a bill that will protect the 800,000 people under the DACA program.

Coffman will be introducing the BRIDGE Act that will protect immigrants who were brought to this country illegally as kids.

As of now, Coffman has 12 Republican co-sponsors and all the support of Democrats in Congress. To be able to pass the legislation he will need 218 House members to sign on.

Donald Trump will be making a decision this weekend whether he will end the DACA program. Many Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, have urged Trump to keep the DACA program.

The Center for American Progress has already estimated that without DACA the U.S. “would lose about $460 billion in GDP over the next 10 years.”
