GOP House Leader Sparks Outrage After Saying The ‘Top Priority’ Is To ‘Keep People At Work’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told his socially-distancing colleagues in the House chamber on Friday that his “top priority” is to “keep Americans at work,” and not keeping them alive.

“Our top priority is to keep Americans at work,” McCarthy said.

AT this point, the United States has had the most cases of coronavirus, despite having a lower population than China – where it all started.

But McCarthy, and other Republicans like Donald Trump, are anxious to get Americans back to work – even if it means a lot more people will die.

“We all saw that tragic news this week: 3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits,” he said during his oratory.

This goes to show that Republicans care more about people getting too many benefits than their actual lives.

McCarthy’s remarks did spark outrage among citizens. Many of which called him out on Twitter. Here are some of the responses:
